The Siren
“This place is too pretty.” Karan’s fluffy snow leopard tail swished, puffing out even bigger as they walked amongst the trailing weeping willows. She looked more like an oddly colored squirrel than cat girl. Salamander kept his eyes peeled, “You think so?” “The quiet’s too soothing.” “It is awfully calm. Must be what lures people to the water.” he agreed, “I know if I wasn’t aware to be careful this would probably have snared me in.” “Yeah… You are a bit clueless.” “Stay sharp.” He replied gruffly in annoyance, causing Karan to giggle nervously. They approached the pond cautiously. “This is as far as you go,” Salamander said lowly, shrugging off his pack. Karan did the same with hers, “Stay back, little sister.” Karan reached up to grasp his upper arm for a moment before he continued forward. She remained fairly hidden, waiting and watching.
